The dissertation “The Philosophy of al-Hallaj” has been successfully defended at the People’s Friendship University of Russia in Moscow University under supervision of Prof. Maitham M. al-Janabi (2007)
Since 2002 Director of the Center of Iranian Studies in the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow;
Since 2013 Assistant professor of the Department of Modern East of the Faculty of History, Political Science and Law in the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow.
Subjects: Islamic philosophy, Persian language, Classical Arabic texts, Language of the Qur’an, Shi‘ism and Sufism in Iran, History of Iran, Pre-Islamic religion in Iran.
Pavel Basharin has more than 180 publications about Islamic mysticism, Islamic and Iranian demonology, Oriental manuscripts, Iranian languages and comparative linguistics.
