Born April 2, 1966 in the city of Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg);
in 1984 he graduated from a sports boarding school No. 62 in Leningrad (now the School of Olympic Reserve) with a degree in swimming; master of sports and a member of the USSR national swimming team (until 1984);
in 1991 he graduated with honors from the Department of History of Afghanistan, Department of the Middle East, East Faculty of St. Petersburg State University;
In 1997, under the scientific supervision of O.F. Akimushkina and S.M. Prozorov at the St. Petersburg Institute of Economics, RAS, defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of historical sciences on the topic "Pragmatic Sufism in the Brotherhood of Naqshbandiyya (based on Persian written sources of the 12th-16th centuries)";
As part of various delegations, he repeatedly traveled and worked as a translator of the Persian language in Iran; from 1997 to the present - M.S., N.S., Senior Scientist Sectors of the Middle East SPbF IV RAS.
